1975 Prudential Cup in England
The 1st edition of the cricket world cup was held in England and was contested by eight (8) teams. The West Indies were the favourites to win the title even before the commencement of the tournament. West Indies defeated Australia in the final to claim the first-ever cricket world cup title. Clive Lloyd and Sir Viv Richards were in top form during the tournament.
1979 Prudential Cup in England
The second edition of the cricket world cup was again held in England. Much like 1975, the West Indies won the tournament for the second time in a row. This time around, they were up against England in the final and ended up defeating them with ease. The West Indian fast bowlers were in good form and took wickets at regular intervals throughout the tournament. Consequently, West Indies ended up as cricket world cup winners in 1979.
1983 Prudential Cup in England
India sparked a major upset in the final of the 1983 Prudential Cup to bring home their first ICC Cricket World Cup title. Kapil Dev, Madan Lal, Roger Binny and Mohinder Amarnath bowled brilliantly to dismiss the West Indies for 140 (while chasing 183) in the final. 1987 World Cup
The 1987 edition of the Cricket World Cup was held in Asia (and not in the UK). India and Pakistan both qualified for the Semi-Finals but neither team could make it to the final. 1992 World Cup
The World Cup was held in Australia for the first time ever. Also, coloured clothing and white balls were used for the first time in the world cup. 1999 World Cup
Cricket World Cup returned to the UK for the first time after 1983 and saw Saurav Ganguly going after the Lankans with a belligerent 183. 2003 World Cup

India won the world cup after 28 years to end their wait for a world cup title. Yuvraj Singh was the star of the tournament for his all-round effort. Sri Lanka lost their second consecutive final to hand India the cricket world cup winners title.
2015 World Cup
Australia and New Zealand hosted the world cup for the second time and both the teams played each other in the finals. Australia won their fifth cricket world cup winners title after beating New Zealand in the final.
2019 World Cup
The latest edition of the world cup was hosted by England-who also ended up winning the tournament after defeating New Zealand in the final.
